Queen Elizabeth II was portrayed by Claire Foy at the start of the series. She played the part for the first two seasons before handing it off to Olivia Colman for the third and fourth. Actress Imelda Staunton is currently responsible for bringing this regal figure to life in the fifth chapter; she will continue to perform this part during the sixth season.

2. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was portrayed by Matt Smith in both the first and second seasons. Then, during the third and fourth seasons, Tobias Menzies stepped into the position. Now, the legendary Jonathan Pryce is in charge of portraying Queen Elizabeth II’s husband.

The Countess of Snowdon, also known as Queen Elizabeth II’s sister, was portrayed by Vanessa Kirby. Then, in the third and fourth seasons, Helena Bonham Carter filled Margaret’s role. Lesley Manville is in charge of bringing this character to life in the sixth instalment.

5. Louis Mountbatten

The Earl of Burma was portrayed by Greg Wise in the first and second seasons. Charles Dance then had the privilege of portraying this role from the third to the fourth episode.

7. Edward Duke VIII

Prince Edward, better known as the Duke of Windsor, was brought to life by Alex Jennings from the first to the second season. Following that, Derek Jacobi took over the role, though just for the third movie.

8. Antony Armstrong-Jones

Matthew Goode had the honour of playing the Earl of Snowdon in the second season. Ben Daniels assumed the part in the third movie.

9. Wallis Simpson

Lia Williams played the Duchess of Windsor, Prince Edward’s wife, in the first and second seasons until Geraldine Chaplin took over for Wallis Simpson in the third season.
