“There was no rhyme or reason to my choices,” TT, the artist, explained. “I just started messing around with the images, and this happened.” “I honestly did this just for fun. There is no political agenda or ulterior motive “TT went on. “I adore Disney and chose a few of my favourite characters to customise. I believe that there is beauty in every background, and this is nothing more than a technical and artistic exploration of various ethnicities.” Check out some of the amazing artwork below!

The altered Disney character illustrations prompt an intriguing thought experiment: how would Sleeping Beauty have looked if Princess Aurora was of Jamaican or Argentinian descent? What would Mulan look like if the same story took place in the defence of Rome or Egypt? According to the artist, “fairy tales are constantly being taken out of their cultural context.”

The majority of the fairy tales we know today were adapted from their original cultural context. The story of Aladdin was originally set in China. The Frog Prince was Latin and was changed several times in various countries.”

The beautiful princesses have been having an interesting time.

Disney’s first princess film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was released in 1937. Since then, distinct elements have emerged in Disney princess films. The soundtracks are typically pleasant, the characters are accompanied by adorable animals, and the major subject is good versus evil. Aside from that, the films deliver a strong message about the importance of family relationships.

The evolution of Disney princesses is indelibly linked to the evolution of gender roles in society. In their early years, Snow White and Cinderella, for example, were portrayed as graceful, hardworking, and deeply committed to completing their house chores. However, in the early 1990s, Disney princesses were very different. Ariel in The Little Mermaid and Belle in Beauty and the Beast were both portrayed as smart, outgoing, and strong-willed characters. Tangled, Brave, Frozen, and Moana, among the most recent Disney princess films, show the female lead character becoming more self – reliant and brave.
