The next installment in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse has been officially unveiled.
The sequel to “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire” will be titled “Godzilla X Kong: Supernova,” the corporation revealed Friday, coupled with the fact that the film has begun production. It will open in theatres on March 26, 2027.

A small teaser video has also been released. It depicts an office for Monarch, the shadowy organisation that tracks the massive, city-destroying monsters known as Titans, with a computer providing a real-life hotline where fans can phone to receive an automated response. The phone number is (240) MON-ARCH, which translates to (240) 666-2724.
Godzilla X Kong’ Sequel Gets ‘Supernova’ Title
“Thank you for contacting the Monarch Community Support Hotline, your global resource for Titan reaction and relief. The call warns that reporting Titan sightings is important to keeping our world safe.
Supernova
“Supernova” is the sixth installment in the popular Monsterverse franchise, following the success of 2024’s “Godzilla : The New Empire.” Dan Stevens returns as Trapper, while Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill make their debuts.
The teaser doesn’t say much, but it does show a call coming in from Sedona, Arizona. Sedona was the city where the spider-legged monster Scylla was awakened in “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” when the three-headed dragon King Ghidorah called Titans from all over the earth to confront Godzilla. Other amusing touches include a Godzilla bobblehead and a cup with the words “Keep Kong and Carry On” on the desk in the film.

Godzilla: Supernova, the sixth installment in Legendary’s “Monsterverse” series of enormous monster films, announced its release date today, along with a short teaser trailer. The film is set to be released in theatres on March 26, 2027.
The Legendary “Monsterverse” series, based on the original monster characters created for Toho Studios, premiered in 2014 with the release of Godzilla, directed by Gareth Edwards. Other films include Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024), as well as the 2023 Monarch: Legacy of Monsters TV series.

Grant Sputore directs Godzilla , while David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green write the screenplays.
They scrapped in Hong Kong in Godzilla Vs Kong, became friends, and teamed up with Mothra to preserve the Hollow Earth in Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. Everyone’s fave scaly boi and huge ape Titan are ready to return in the newly dubbed Godzilla X Kong: Supernova. Today, Warner Bros. turned to social media — and YouTube — to unveil the actual title and release date for filmmaker Grant Sputore’s upcoming MonsterVerse film, revealing that the Zillakong threequel (as no one is calling it) has now begun production with a lovely little teaser video.
Titan sightings occur all around the world. Severe emergency alerts. And the distinct roar of Godzilla himself. Sure, there’s not much to go on in terms of parsing what the kaiju is about to do in Godzilla X Kong: Supernova, but that astrophysical title and the colour scheme of its treatment don’t make us doubt that a SpaceGodzilla MonsterVerse debut could be on the way in a few years.
Speculation notwithstanding, confirmation that the film has officially begun production is fantastic news, especially given the impressive cast that franchise newbie Sputore has assembled for his maiden journey into WB and Legendary’s world of monsters and men. Co-starring alongside Godzilla and Kong in this, the sixth MonsterVerse film, will be deep breath Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens (reprising the role of kaiju vet Trapper), Matthew Modine, Alycia Debnam-Carey, actual Sam Neill, and, in a cool little Sinners mini-reunion, Jack O’Connell and Delroy Lindo. Sheesh!
Godzilla: Supernova, written by David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green, joins Season 2 of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters in the MonsterVerse’s near future docket, as the sci-fi/creature-feature franchise boldly enters its second decade. When can we expect to witness the results of Sputore and his collaborators’ efforts? Supernova will explode onto our screens on March 26, 2027. Who is joining our SpaceGodzilla summoning circle? We’ll take a Gigan if there’s a Giga going on. We are not fussy. Anyway…
